IPINAGHARAP na ng reklamo ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa Office of the Ombudsman ang 10 alkalde dahil sa kabiguang makasunod sa direktiba ng gobyerno na linisin ang mga kalye at bangketa mula sa anomang obstruction.
Nabatid mula kay DILG Secretary Eduardo Año na ipinagharap ng kasong administratibo tulad ng gross neglect of duty at grave misconduct ang mga mayor sa Baco, Oriental Mindoro; Pili, Camarines Sur; Ginatilan, Cebu; Pagsanghan, Samar; Aurora at Lapuyan, Zamboanga Del Sur; Sagay at Guinsiliban, Camuigin; Manticao, Misamis Oriental; at Caraga, Davao Oriental.
Sinabi ni Año na unang bugso pa lamang ng mga lokal na opisyal ang kanilang inireklamo at mayroon pang inaasahang susunod na makakasuhan.
“This is just the first batch of cases to be filed and we will file the succeeding batches as soon as our lawyers have finished reviewing the validation reports and the corresponding answers by the mayors,” ani Año.
“These first batch of mayors failed to perform their duty to clear their roads of obstructions, they did not develop or implement any displacement program or plan, they do not have any long-term rehabilitation and sustainability plan in place, and they failed to set up a feedback or grievance mechanism for their constituents; hence, we are compelled to seek their suspension from office,” dagdag nito.
Umaasa ang DILG chief na agad maaaksyunan ng Office of the Ombudsman ang kanilang reklamo upang mayroong mapanagot at masampulan.
Sinabi ni Año na ang 10 LGU officials na inireklamo ay nakapagtala ng pinakamababang validation scores kasunod ng isinagawang mahigpit na nationwide evaluation at monitoring ng DILG.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni DILG spokesman Jonathan Malaya na maaaring muling magpalabas ng direktiba ang ahensya patungkol sa 75-day road clearing operation matapos mapansin na bumalik ang ilang obstructions sa mga kalye at bangketa. (JG Tumbado)
